Top 10 Steps to a Better Life!

HYDRATION

Hydration allows our brain to focus better and our bodies to perform harder. Drinking more water reduces fatigue, can reduce headaches and migraines, improves the skins complexion, flushes out toxins from the body and there are many other benefits.

Hydration is also wonderful for ageing. It also supports the gut health as well by keeping you more regular; your gut health is also responsible for your mental health and overall wellness.

JOURNALING

Journalling is so incredibly powerful; it can really help support mental health by getting your frustration and uncomfortable, perhaps even painful, emotions out of your body and onto paper. Unfortunately, intense emotions lingering inside us are difficult to escape; therefore, releasing them onto paper releases them from our body. And it sure helps us not to release our anger out on others.

With the power of journalling you may find your mind is far more stabilised than without this incredibly life altering practice. Journalling can be practiced on a daily basis or throughout the week. It is good to reflect back and see where your mind was at, and to see the progression day by day. It is a great way to track your mental health and progress.

MINDFULNESS & MEDITATION

Mindfulness is such a varied subject. Practising mindfulness techniques can really help you focus on the present and add clarity into your life. Mindfulness helps you observe your life as it’s happening, and supports you with being more stable and more productive to develop better results through life’s hardships.

Mindfulness is about allowing feelings to exist without them driving your actions.

Practising mindfulness allows you to have a deeper awareness of what choices are sensible and healthy for yourself.

NUTRITION

What we put in our mouth can either help our immune system and mental health or do the total opposite. Our immune system is found in the gut and our mental health also stems from gut health. Focussing on super foods and whole foods can have a positive impact on our gut health whilst reducing the amount of processed foods.

EXERCISE

Exercising correctly is very beneficial to our mind, body and soul. When we exercise we release endorphins, which are proven to raise our dopamine levels. Dopamine is the ‘feel good’ hormone. There are many different forms of exercise, whether it’s walking your dog, horse riding, martial arts, iceskating, sports, going to the gym, doing home work-outs, housework, walking to get places or walking as a hobby etc. Just ensure you are exercising correctly and not overdoing it as that can wear out your muscles and may cause injuries.

The best exercise to do is the one that is right for you and the one that you will commit to.

Keep yourself looking and feeling good for yourself and others around you. The healthier you are, the healthier your energy will be.

RELATIONSHIPS

Your relationship with yourself is of utmost importance. Working on developing and maintaining your inner peace will result in long term happiness. Your inner peace is the most valuable relationship in your life.

Your connection to others is important to your own well being.

Compromise is required with all friendships, family members, colleagues, general public and romantic relationships. However, your health and safety should NEVER be compromised to save a relationship.

Mutual respect is a key ingredient in all types of relationships. Maintaining your identity and setting healthy boundaries are incredibly important. The result of not doing this allows you to be a doormat for others. Knowing your values and having self worth are helpful when deciding who to keep in your life. Not everyone will respect you. And not everyone needs to have access to you.

CAREER

If you’re stuck in a job you loathe, what are you doing outside of that job to recreate your career and redesign your path in life?

Focus on something you are naturally good at. A talent that you can create an income from. Put your heart in it and money will eventually follow. When you are talented and prepared, when an opportunity arises, you’ll be in a much better position at winning over that opportunity. Talent alone is not enough. You have to be rehearsed and ready. Practice over and over until you’ve improved your skill set and ready to showcase it to the world. Share your talent and skills with others. Give people what they want and you’ll get what you want: a healthy paycheque.

Keep in mind that profits are better than wages. Wages will keep you stable whereas profits can grow and thrive.

If you’re happy with your career, it reflects within your health. The healthier you are, the better energy you will omit to others.

HOBBIES

Have interests that are outside of your romantic relationships. Have something for you to focus on that is fun and enjoyable. A hobby that takes you away from stress, struggle and the pains of life.

Distraction can help with mental health struggles. Hobbies can take your minds off negative things or release built up stress and tension.

Hobbies can range from sports, something creative, travelling, being a collector etc.

THE BIG DECLUTTER

Declutter your living space twice per year. Anything you don’t use needs gifting or tossing away. A decluttered space is a decluttered mind!

Declutter the toxic people in your life.

Declutter your technology and virtual space. Less is more. It’s more effective and productive if you have less apps, less emails and less messages to respond to. Technology should be simplifying our lives, not complicating it.

THE REWARD

Reward yourself for all the hard work and effort you put in to building your best self and your best life. You deserve to give to you the way you would give generously to others. Be proud of your achievements. Even the smallest wins are worth celebrating.
